Oops i did it again, i walked into Pierre Herme store...
A friend of mine came to London and said she had cravings because i bought some for her one birthday, so, because we were in the area, we decided to pop into the store and grab a few to share.
We were greeted by a counter of colourful goodies and, as usual, was overwhelmed by the choice. We asked the server for recommendations and he said "get one of everything, as they are all very good"...lol.
In the end, we settled on the following flavours (from top left, clockwise):
- Infiniment Rose - Rose & Rose Petals - Jasmin, Neroli & Immortelle - Jasmine, Neroli & Corsican Immortelle flower
- Jardine D'Olympe - Vanilla & Saffron
- Indulgence - Fresh Mint & Garden Peas
The Good:
- I have previously tried a jasmine based macaron and was devastated when PH stopped making it. Tasting this new version bought back such pleasant memories, because as soon as you take a bite and swallow it, you can smell the jasmine through your nose (this is no exaggeration.) I absolutely loved this, so much that i ended up going back into the store and purchased three more to take home. Yummy!
- Rose, as usual was also a yummy flavour, however, this one felt like it had a much creamier filling. But, overall, still yummy!
The Strange:
- The mint and pea macaron wasn't bad, it was definitely an acquired taste. When you first take a bite into it, you can definitely taste the mint, then gradually, you can taste hints of peas. A very odd experience, especially as i'm sure my bite contained half a fairly solid pea in the filling. I'm glad i tried it, but i'm not sure i'll be rushing back to get more
- I wasn't a huge fan of the vanilla & saffron, but my friend really enjoyed it, hence, each to their own! Theres plenty of flavours available, hence i'm sure everybody can find their favourite.
